Spicing Up the Blog World
posted on: September 7, 2006
You've heard it before; blogs are valuable assets when it comes to your marketing plan. With approximately 9 million blogs on the web today, it would be suicidal to not become part of this.
Among those 9 million blogs, you'll find The Hot Sauce Blog. Featured on Business Week Online, the Hot Sauce Blog (HSB) was founded in 2004 by Sweat 'N Spice entrepreneur Nick Lindauer, aka the "Sultan of Sauces," began his blog to provide the hot sauce community with news, reviews, recipes, and much more.
The HSB proves to be a great example for all companies currently on, or looking to get on, the blogosphere (or blog community). This blog is so successful because Lindauer is dedicated to his blog and readers. He shows his dedication by updating his post daily with plenty of industry related information, crediting commenters, and of course making it easy for his readers to subscribe.
The HSB blog is very successful for Lindauer and his store, Sweat N' Spice. However for other blog owners it may prove to be more successful, if you would direct your readers around your blog. Decide what you want your readers to do, and create the blog so they can. For example, make the menus concise and well organized, direct readers to your store (Providing links to other stores is acceptable and encouraged, but place more emphasis on your own.), use descriptive interesting titles when naming links.
No matter what industry you are in, the one question on everyones mind is, "How do I get indexed by the search engines?" With the right tools, like a blog, being found by a search engine becomes a lot easier.
