2007—Full Speed Ahead

2006 was one amazing year at Solid Cactus!

The numbers say volumes. At the end of 2005, we had 32 team members. Today we have 75 full-time people. It was you, our clients, who drove our growth. You wanted more product offerings and we listened.

In 2006 we introduced the first multi-carrier shipping manager as a Yahoo! Store add-in. We launched our own client call center as an outsourced customer service department. We opened our client marketing division offering search engine marketing and affiliate program management. We had our very first in-house customer event, Solid Cactus Boot Camp.

We gave back. We teamed up with Yahoo! Small Business to aid Katrina victims in New Orleans by setting up dozens of businesses with free e-commerce stores to get them back on their feet. We replicated the event here in Northeastern Pennsylvania after flooding in June.

We were proud to be named one of the “Best Places to Work In Pennsylvania”.

We grew, but it came with growing pains.

When we hire team members at Solid Cactus, we take six to eight weeks to get them up to speed before they tackle a project head-on. That’s fine if you accurately estimate growth. We didn’t. We doubled in size and still didn’t hire nearly enough people. The holidays caught us off guard. Our designers and programmers worked nights and weekends, but even so we experienced some project delays. That is unacceptable.

We will quickly be a team of 100+ as we increase our design, programming and support departments to meet demand. Next holiday season we’ll be ready!

In 2007, we’ll be launching several new products and services to make running your e-business easier. Our new “Client Center” will be your one-stop-spot for all your account and project information. Most exciting though is “Feed Perfect” which will be made available as a public beta on January 31. (We’ll have complete details here next month). We also have several smokin’ new Yahoo! store enhancements ready to hatch from our development lab. We’re excited!
