Vote Early. Vote Often.

Posted by Scott Sanfilippo on Oct 30, 2008

Vote Early. Vote Often. It’s a phrase many who grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania have heard over the years. In the days before the hanging chad, this area was pretty well known for voter fraud. Tales of the dearly departed casting their vote weren’t just tales, and “buying a vote” was a [...]

Make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs

Star Wars + Mac Nerdery = Most Awesome Mod Ever.
Being of the age that I grew up with the original Trilogy (“… there’s only one Return and its not of the King, but the Jedi.” Nerd cred for identifying that quote’s source.) this mod of a Mac Mini is just about the penultimate in cool.  [...]

A Few Quotes for the Political Junkies

Posted by Greg Davis on Oct 29, 2008

As the election draws closer, I thought I’d send a few inspiring quotes from political leaders of the past…
“Every man of action has a strong dose of egotism, pride, hardness, and cunning. But all those things will forgiven, indeed, they will be regarded as high qualities if he can make of them the ability to [...]

Ten Tips for Winning in a Bad Economy

Posted by Randy Llewellyn on Oct 29, 2008

I just had a conversation with Steve Grecco, Director of Sales, Store Dev. about business survival in this economy and I’m borrowing some of his words…
To survive, you can’t just cower in the corner and hope you come through clean on the other side. But, lets hope that’s what our competitors are doing. High confidence is the key to winning. Take [...]

For those about to redesign…We salute you!

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 29, 2008

I was recently blessed with the opportunity to see AC/DC in concert. However, this was no ordinary show. This was the final dress rehearsal before they kicked off their latest tour in many years. Now me being an AC/DC fan since I can remember, the opportunity to see them before anyone else was a dream come [...]

To add to Marc Manfree’s encouragement to get out there and vote, following is another helpful resource, courtesy of Google:

W3schools, how do I love thee?

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

Come on, it’s time for a trip down old school lane.  For each and every one of us, there was a time when we knew nothing what so ever about html.  There was a time when we didn’t know what an a tag was, a time when we thought that CSS was some sort of [...]

Wait, What Did My SEM Manager Just Say?

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

More often that not being in the SEM industry has the capacity to make you -
A. Talk faster
B. Analyze ever bit of data you can get your hands on
and..
C. Talk in acronyms (ROAS, CPA, CTR, Conv. Rate, CPC, PPC, SEM…)
To us these are normal common place words, but we must remember that not everyone in [...]

Yahoo Web Analytics!

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

Jeff P. posted about the new Yahoo Web Analytics the other day, and I wanted to mention it on our blog as well. We’re all very excited to see it roll out over here, and we’re encouraging Yahoo Store owners to test it out. Maybe you’re already using Google Analytics or another analytics tool, but [...]

Declining Online Sales

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

Forrester Research recently announced that the poor economic conditions are going to significantly slow US online holiday sales.
This sounds like bad news until you read the first line of the article:
“US online retail sales this holiday season will reach $44 billion, a 12% increase over last year and the slowest growth rate to date”

This is [...]

One Man’s Trash Is Another Man’s Um…Trash?

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

Wondering what to get the person that has everything this holiday season? How about a box full of trash? No, really. Over at nycgarbage.com, they sell tiny sculptures made of actual garbage from NYC streets. They even have limited edition boxes from special dates like New Year’s day and such. Pretty interesting concept.

Hallelujah! I Have Seen The Light!

Posted by Solid Cactus on Oct 28, 2008

I have had a change of heart. That’s right, your favorite hardcore, beer sipping Marine blogger has seen the light. I am no longer going to be the aggressive, yet incredibly good looking blogger you all have come to know and love. A colleague (and good friend) of mine wrote a blog pointing out the [...]
