Google Shopping Search is now using Google Instant technology, letting shoppers “shop faster than ever” according to Google. Instant is only live in the Shopping Search which is accessed through the shopping view filter, not the Google Product Search. ClickZ’s Chrispin Sheridan suggests optimizing your product feed for Instant. He says to remember using all the customizable fields and give the most information to consumers. Including price, brand and images to maximize the benefits of Google Instant.

You’ve been putting it off for months, waiting for the holiday rush to be over, holding off until you’re sure you know what you want. You know your online store needs a redesign, but so far it’s still on the back burner. It’s a fresh new year and what better time is there to give your eCommerce store a fresh new start. No more putting it off, it’s time to get to work.

Solid Cactus recently went through the redesign process and released our newly designed, solidcactus.com. It was hard work for our designers, going through revision after revision to make sure everything was just right. Our webmaster engulfed himself in HTML coding to make sure it was programmed perfectly. The copy had to be compelling and SEO friendly at the same time. But after all is said and done, solidcactus.com has never looked better. (more…)

Simple HTML Tutorials – Using Special HTML Characters

Oftentimes, you’ll need to use some common codes such as the copyright or registered trademark symbols as part of either the population of your products, or in the footer of the website. These symbols are normally hidden in your typefaces as special characters that would either be automatically replaced in the document by your word processor, by holding a modifier key, or by opening a character map on your computer and pasting it in place. Since HTML was created to be a simple, text-only language, it doesn’t recognize those characters the same way that a complex word processor does. This is further confounded by differences in the way type works on a PC, a Mac, and a Linux computer. In order to display the characters properly in a web browser on all platforms, there are simple codes that need to be entered rather than copying and pasting the actual special character from your word processing software.

Google Shopper Arrives in the Apple Store for iPhone Users

Google Shopper, the comparison shopping application, is now available to iPhone users at the Apple App store. The application will search by using barcodes, album covers and voice. Mobile consumers have shown interest in the application, 2.5 million versions of Google Shopper were downloaded to Android users according to Google. A recent survey of 3,000 consumers by GetPrice found that an 82% shop online in order to compare prices. Others shop online to save time (76%) or to compare offers (73%).
