Retailers are gearing up for a busy holiday season, which is expected to show sales growth as nearly 7 in 10 retailers expect their online sales to grow at least 15 percent more than last year. One of the biggest factors in growing online sales this year will be promotions. Retailers are expected to be promotion heavy this year in their offerings in order to attract more online shoppers. The most anticipated and popular promotion of course is free shipping and 9 in 10 retailers are expected to offer that service this year. They are also expected to start offering it earlier than last year, some starting immediately after Halloween. Yahoo-ing and Bing-ing It in the Big Apple

As search engine marketers, the PPC team is often invited to attend forums, conferences, webinars and the like. In the interest of best servicing our clients, we pick and choose which ones will be most beneficial to devote time to.

So, when four members of the Solid Cactus PPC team decided to venture into the Big Apple, aka New York City, for a Yahoo/Bing Customer Forum, the intention was to learn a lot and come back reenergized and equipped with a new arsenal of knowledge to unleash on our clients’ accounts. It looks like mobile devices and tablets are going to be a major shopping channel for the 2011 holiday season. According to a survey conducted by the National Retail Federation, 52% of smartphone users will use their devices to shop, conduct research, redeem coupons, and use apps to assist with their purchases. The biggest demographic that will be using these devices is young adults with 72% planning on using their phones and 86% using their tablets.
