Testing to include ads within user content

Great news has arrived for retailers who want their Facebook advertising to start getting a little more attention from fans. Facebook announced it has begun testing an unfiltered live feed ticker to the home pages of a few select users that would include ads within home page content. So when users are looking over what their friends are doing at that moment, they’ll also see a few advertisements thrown in. Right now the company is still testing the waters and so only a portion of its 750 million users will see them but for retailers it is a step in the right direction. As they continue to test the format, more alterations may come before it is rolled out to more users. But will consumers find this method more of a hindrance or will it increase engagement?

New survey shows rates of web merchants

A new survey conducted by Internet Retailer describes the new outlook on Internet fraud among web merchants. The survey showed that fraud rates have increased for 24% of online retailers while it decreased for 13% of retailers. 63% said that fraud rates were the same from last year. Those who responded are taking extra precautions to help protect their business and customers from Internet fraud by manually reviewing suspicious orders. “Retailers must continue to find ways to promote a secure online experience as well as protect consumers’ information during and after a transaction is processed,” says Souheil Badran, senior vice president and general manager at Digital River World Payments.
