Economy Isn’t Scaring Americans from Celebrating Halloween

It’s that time again – it is indeed my absolute favorite time of the year. It’s not just the mild weather and the beautiful scenery, it’s the season for the best holiday of the year (at least in my eyes it is). If you haven’t already guessed, I’m talking about Halloween.

Halloween is often viewed as a silly kids’ holiday, but it is becoming more and more popular to celebrate among adults each year. Everyone should have fun, dress up, and get their scare on. Since so many more adults are celebrating, this is great news for retailers because they have to start spending.

The National Retail Federation’s 2011 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey shows that seven in 10 Americans or 68.6% plan on celebrating Halloween this year which is up 63.8 percent from last year. That is a huge increase! These consumers are expected to spend a little more as well with total Halloween spending expected to reach $6.86 billion. (more…)

Engage in multi-channel marketing: Interact with your customers, and entice them to interact with your business. Use email marketing and social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and your blog to keep your store front and center for your customers. Use PPC to promote your blog, to encourage people to “like” your Facebook page, and to ask people to follow you on Twitter, and drive that traffic accordingly.

How to Capture Extra Holiday Sales with Comparison Shopping Engines

There are less than 100 days until Christmas. Are you ready? eMarketer has conducted research which forecasted that online sales are expected to be equal or even exceed last year’s holiday online shopping results. This would mean at least 12% growth can be expected this year, according to comScore’s historical data. Last year, comScore had reported that online spending grew 12% on volume of $32.8 billion for the 2010 holiday season, so this year could be a break out season!

Can we beat those numbers this season? Absolutely! Prior planning and maximizing your marketing channels are crucial to big gains this season. One of the best marketing channels to utilize is comparison shopping engines (CSEs), and with news like this, getting your business live on a comparison shopping engine is crucial! If you are going to catch fish, you need to be where the big fish are swimming, and comparison shopping engines definitely have “big fish” —  consumers using comparison shopping engines spend on average 25% more per order than other online marketing avenues! Preparing PPC for the Holidays

It’s the middle of September and I keep wondering where this year went. As soon as I finish promotional ad text for Mother’s Day, I feel like the next week I am putting up back to school ads. Time goes by so fast and in this fast paced world you need to stay ahead by starting your holiday promotions early enough to stay competitive with other online retailers bidding on similar terms in the pay per click realm. When they search Google to see what kind of buying incentives and promotional text you’re using to capture qualified traffic, hopefully your ads will be there with jingle bells on.
