Dear Solid Cactus Partner,

It’s rare when Wilkes-Barre, PA makes national headlines. But we were back in the spotlight when late June flooding forced the evacuation of 175,000 people in the greater Wyoming Valley. It wasn’t the first time high water made us run for our lives; Hurricane Agnes left 80,000 homeless back in 1972. This time the area was spared from disaster, but not from the chaos.

Solid Cactus is located in downtown Wilkes-Barre, just 5 blocks from the mighty Susquehanna River. We’re right in the floodplain. We’re also on the first floor. When everyone had to evacuate, adrenaline flowed and nerves were on edge.

How we made it and how our lessons in disaster planning can help your business are the topics of this special edition. We have photos and stories to share and a piece by our resident wordsmith Kevin Lynn who, as a local radio talk show host, spent hours relaying news and information to hundreds of thousands of listeners.

This special edition is our story with lessons for you, too.
