Remembering Hurricane Katrina

August 29th, 2005 and Hurricane Katrina has burned a memory in the minds of anyone from Southeast Louisiana. As most of America stayed glued to their televisions watching the endless footage of the destroyed “Big Easy,” the residents of New Orleans searched non-stop for relatives, friends, as well as their prized possessions.

Along with the American Red Cross companies like Home Depot and Walmart drove and flew supplies and human man-power down to New Orleans to help rescue citizen and begin the long road to cleaning up. After a few months of trying to get this city back on its feet, Solid Cactus along with Yahoo! and BellSouth flew down to New Orleans to provide more that 200 business owners an opportunity to get their business online. With the help of all three companies, approximately 150 businesses got their e-commerce sector online that day.

On this anniversary, we at Solid Cactus would like to encourage everyone to check out some of the great sites started that day, such as Authorized Optics and Silk Road Furniture.
