Techies do like to get away from their computer screens now and again. A group of Solid Cactus employees formed a company book club, with bestselling Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver selected as the first reading.
The group was spearheaded by Feed Perfect Account Manager Carlos Sanes, the idea born while he was discussing books with a few coworkers.
“I thought, certainly there must be other members of the Cactus Nation that appreciate good company, good reading, and even better discussion!” Sanes said.
About a dozen Solid Cactus staffers answered the company-wide call. The SCBC set a three-week deadline for completing the book, and plan to meet a local restaurant for discussion.
“There so many bookworms in the office– I see people reading everywhere on their lunch breaks, so this is great to bring everyone with a common interest together. Instead of telling people about the book I just read, we can talk together about what we’re reading while we’re reading,” said Senior Solutions Advisor Donna Talarico.
And, just like employees at a technology company would do, an internal website is also being created to post comments, meeting dates and more.
