Wallyball Anyone?

Could the rumors be true? Could actual “fitness” be breaking out at Solid Cactus? Word is RTML Developers Chris Harman and Jeffrey Li are fielding “Wallyball” teams. They’re forming up two teams of 8 players each. The teams will play in the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA Wallyball League against other teams from the area. It should be loads of fun!

Wallyball was invented in the late ’70’s as a way to play volleyball indoors in limited spaces. It’s sometimes called rebound volleyball. It is hugely popular in the Midwest and East where there are lots of small spaces and not nearly enough sun, surf and sand. Most Wallyball games are set up on racketball or squash courts where players can actually play shots after they carom off the surrounding walls.

Projectiles flying everywhere! Bodies crashing into walls! Aggression unbounded! Sound like fun? Everything is in place, except for a few minor details. One is the matter of getting 16 hardy souls to make up the two teams. The other—is waiting for the Y to actually start the season.

As if that isn’t enough to send you in search of a personal trainer, word is we’ll also have a team in an upcoming bowl-a-thon and, and we’ll be fielding a softball team. Start taping your ankles…!
